Landed in Dover

So it is 5pm and we are on the M20 leaving Dover

In Calais

The journey back wad uneventful, thankfully, and now we're sat in Calais waiting, and some of us, me, getting terribly excited by the free wifi. We stopped off on the way here in a French service station, where, incidentally, we were surprised to hear French, more fool us, so we all have eaten, and now are just waiting for an opportunity to eat the rest.

Peter Pan ride

Waiting in the queue for the rides, I brought up the subject of selfies... Prepare for a few

Afternoon tea

Stopping a while out of the drizzle we found the doughnuts and hot chocolate reviving and warming. The challenge to eat the whole doughnut without licking your lips was enthusiastically taken up, by some, cough cough, Jenny, more so than others. Next on the itinerary is the Parade and then shopping, can't wait!!

Not on the tea cups

Second breakfast was long awaited and only just heartily munched when Akela suggested the spinning tea cups as our next ride. At the time of writing, no one has yet been sick but no one is on the ride yet. Akela was the only leader brave enough to face it; us sensible ones held the bags. Oh, scratch that, Akela somehow managed to evade actually getting on the ride, the skill in that was stupendous.

Not entirely sure where we are now

Breakfast Done

So breakfast is done, we are loaded up and walking through the ranch to the park. Oh joy
All good, all safe, all (most) happy to be here, is that just me then? Toby

We are at Dover Docks safe n sound

Getting on the ferry!!

So maybe we're still in the queue to get onto the ferry but we're through Border Control and can see the ferry so are all duly excited!! If I had three words to describe us all it would be: hungry; bored; and so, so, so, so excited!! I, for one, cannot wait for my dinner.

And we're off to Disney!!

Having, for some reason, rejected the musicals to watch, the cubs settle down to the start of a real magical adventure. The sun's golden light is starting to set over the hills we see and, for now, we haven't encountered traffic.

Cubs. First morning

An update from Akela. -  they were all happy at
5.30am this morning.Ummmm. We acquired a fire last night. Lovely evening dodging the midges all evening. Almost wishing the rain back to make the bugs go away. The Scouts have porridge for breakfast this morning, happy faces all round.

Pioneering assessment

Much discussion and thinking over the Scouts assessed pioneering project. If this is fully involved and successful, they will achieve their pioneering badge.

Pioneering

Having put off a pioneering project until this afternoon, finally we were smiled upon and had a nice afternoon to build a gate. Very traditional and another photo to add to the collection. Gate hastily converted to a swing post photo, and much fun ensued.

Summer Camp 2014. Part 1

Well at least we know what rain looks like. It rained all the way up to Beaudesert. It rained (lots) whilst we put the camp together. We had a momentary flash of sunshine, then we had a thunderstorm and lots more rain. Even so, everyone is well, happy, and looking forward to a week of ( hopefully not quite so wet ) camp.
